NEW CoSHH Risk Assessment Safety Bulletin.
CoSHH is the law that requires employees to control the substances that can cause harm to employees or others in the workplace. Professions where hazardous substances are regularly used include: workshops operatives, cleaners, hairdressers, welders, garage workers, healthcare staff, bakers and stone masons. Hazardous substances can cause serious health problems, such as cancer, dermatitis and asthma.
As the HSE reminds us, keeping a copy of the Safety Data Sheet does not constitute a CoSHH Risk Assessment.
This CoSHH Risk Assessment Safety Bulletin describes how an examination of the activities in your workplace is required to see how the emission, release and spread of hazardous substances can be minimised. The importance of adequate control measures, emergency planning and CoSHH awareness training of employees is also discussed.
