ISO 14001: Life cycle approach in the IT industry
A life cycle perspective considers the environmental impact of products across their whole life − from supply of parts and production, through to consumer use and disposal. ProLabs are global leaders in compatible connectivity for ultrafast IT networks. Working with Pavy, they adopted a life cycle approach to implement ISO 14001.
With a well-established ISO 9001 management system, ProLabs decided to integrate ISO 14001 to enhance their environmental credentials. To comply with the new German Packaging Law (1st January, 2019), ProLabs registered with Der Grϋne Punkt for the recycling and disposal of packaging after use. As a producer of equipment for the IT industry, the company is also a member of UK and other WEEE compliance schemes. Packaging was redesigned to use less material and thereby reduce waste.
Housed in a state-of-the-art building with LED lights, grey water collection and rooftop photovoltaic panels, ProLabs takes its environmental responsibilities seriously. Innovative product designs reduce energy consumption for users.
